Broighter Networks Upgrade Dublin Metro Network With Transmode WDM

Stockholm, Sweden - 25 July 2006 - Broighter Networks, the specialist High-Bandwidth Broadband Provider for Dublin, announced today that it has selected Transmode, the optical networking pioneer, to supply metro WDM technology for its Dublin metro network upgrade.

The upgraded Dublin metro network uses the Transmode TS-1100 to provide a CWDM overlay network on the existing infrastructure thereby providing considerable service flexibility and future-proofing for the network.

Broighter Networks offers resilient, cost-effective, high-speed broadband services to enterprise customers and service providers in the greater Dublin area. The services operate at speeds of between 10 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s and are based on Metro Ethernet technology. Applications for these services include enterprise site interconnects, Internet access, wireless base station aggregation and mobile phone backhaul.

"As a rapidly growing Metro Ethernet based service provider we were in need of a cost effective and highly functional optical network to support our planned network expansion," said Joerg Steegmueller, Chief Marketing Officer at Broighter. "Transmode provided us with a network design that met our day-one requirements whilst also providing a platform that is capable of expansion to DWDM and 10G when required."

The Transmode TS-1100 provides Broighter with a flexible and scalable platform supporting the 7700 multi-protocol 2.5G Transponder, 7900 multi-protocol 10G Transponder, 5500 4 port low speed muxponder and the 5400 2x GbE/FC muxponder. Using patented Intelligent WDM (iWDM) protocol recognition and functionality such as SFP/XFP pluggable optics the TS-1100 provides network operators and enterprises with a true plug and play experience, greatly reducing network and service turn up times.

"We are delighted to announce this customer win with Broighter," said Andy Howard, Sales Manager at Transmode. "We recently announced that we have reached one of our 2006 strategic objectives by becoming one of the top 3 Metro WDM vendors in Europe and have actually been ranked number 2 by Infonetics Research. Optical Infrastructure for Metro Ethernet networks, such as here with Broighter, is one of the primary drivers behind our growth as Ethernet becomes evermore widespread within telecoms networks."

Broighter Networks Selects Atrica As Exclusive Metro Supplier

Carrier-Class Optical Ethernet Systems Will Enable the Delivery of Next-Generation High Bandwidth Services at Revolutionary Price Points

Santa Clara, CA - 25 June 2003 - AtricaTM, a leading provider of Optical Ethernet equipment for the rapidly expanding Metro networking market, today announced that Broighter Networks Ltd., the high-speed broadband provider for Dublin, Ireland, has chosen Atrica as the exclusive supplier for its next-generation Metro network. Broighter serves small, medium, and large enterprises, Internet Service Providers, Mobile Phone Operators, the Public Sector, and other carriers in Ireland.

With Atrica's Carrier-class Optical Ethernet Systems as a foundation, Broighter will roll-out innovative new high-speed services to its business customers beginning with initial deployments in the Dublin metro area. The new services, from100Mbps to 1Gbps speeds, will include Ethernet Internet access, Ethernet point-to-point service (based upon E-LINE service as defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)), and Ethernet multiple-point service (based upon E-LAN service as defined by the MEF), and will be available at revolutionary new price points. In addition to being some of the most cost-effective metro Ethernet solutions, Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems will enable Broighter to offer unique, customized services such as business continuity service, network attached storage, and application outsourcing with rapid service velocity, enabled by Atrica Service Platform for Ethernet Networks (ASPENTM), an integrated service provisioning and management system.

Before selecting Atrica, Broighter evaluated a number of other potential Metro networking solutions from a variety of vendors.

"Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems stood head and shoulders above the rest of the equipment we evaluated," said Joerg Steegmueller, chief marketing officer for Broighter Networks. "We were impressed with the superior, Carrier-class capabilities of the systems - particularly, their ability to deliver SDH-like resiliency, guaranteed SLAs, and MPLS. These critical features simply weren't offered by several of the other vendors we reviewed. Using Atrica's platforms, we are convinced that we can offer a new set of services that will reduce our costs, improve our ROI, and satisfy our customers."

"As the only specialized high-speed broadband provider in Ireland, Broighter Networks is a good example of the kind of forward-thinking carriers that can benefit from our Optical Ethernet vision, technology, and products," said Nan Chen, director of product marketing for Atrica and founding president and Board member of the Metro Ethernet Forum. "Using our Optical Ethernet Systems, Broighter will be able to drastically reduce its capital and operational costs while building the right foundation for a new set of profitable Ethernet-based services. We look forward to working with Broighter as they begin rolling out these services to their customers."

    Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems

A complete solution for Metro carriers, Atrica's suite of Carrier-class Optical Ethernet Systems is comprised of the A-2000 family of Optical Ethernet Edge Switches, the A-4000 family of Optical Ethernet Aggregation Switches, the A-8000 family of Optical Ethernet Core Switches, and the Atrica Service Platform for Ethernet Networks (ASPEN), an integrated service provisioning and management system. Unlike modified SONET/SDH platforms that attempt to retrofit technology designed primarily for voice traffic, or current Ethernet solutions that are based on enterprise-class equipment, Atrica's Carrier-class Optical Ethernet Systems were developed specifically for the service provider environment.
Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems - including 10 Gigabit Ethernet and integrated WDM technology - supply significantly better price/performance than SONET/SDH-based equipment. In addition, Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems deliver Carrier-class attributes including guaranteed service level agreements (SLAs), sub-50 millisecond resiliency, integration with circuit switched networks, Ethernet Circuit Emulation Services (CES) for support of TDM traffic, and point-and-click OAM&P that meets and exceeds what carriers have been accustomed to in legacy networks
